The index of Google is a list of webpages that the search engine is aware of. If Google does not index your website, your site isn't visible on the search engine results page. This means no organic traffic to your website.

Many factors influence Google's Indexing your website. You need to prevent all the roadblocks that come in the way. Make sure you fall in the eye of google for your original and unique content. If you don’t have sufficient internal links, it might be a deal-breaker for the process of Indexing. Additionally, you can also boost the brand image by building external links off-site and increase engagement on social media channels.

Why is it important to index your website on Google?

When Google ‘crawls’ the web, it adds additional websites to its list. This addition is called Indexing. This process is organized by a web spider called the 'Google bot.' Crawling is much different from Indexing. Crawling is when the bot scrutinizes the website to check if it is worth putting on the search engine results page.

Google bot usually gets to the website by following the external links to your site. Indexing is when the website is added to the collection of its database. Indexing doesn’t mean that your website will appear on top of the SERPs. With Google finding your website to be unique and user experience, it will Rank your website. The website's index is usually determined by certain quality checks and user demand for your services or products.

How to know if Google has indexed your site?

To know whether Google has indexed your site or not, type in the URL for your site in the Google search engine and type in the URL. Then the search results page shows up. There you can find the estimate of the number of pages Google has indexed. If you can’t find any results, then that means that your site is not indexed.

Additionally, you can also check under the page of Google search console. You can set up an account for free here. To check if your site is indexed or not, you must log in to Google Search Console and click on the index. Select Coverage, and you'll see a number of pages that are indexed. If you see zero results there, too, then your site is not indexed.

How to get indexed by Google?

For starters, you can request Google to index you. To request, go to Google Search Console and navigate to the URL inspection tool. Put the URL that you'd want Google to index. Initially, Google starts to check the URL, and then you can click on the 'request indexing button.' This is a good method to follow when you're adding a new post or a new webpage. You're essentially informing Google that you have put up something worth noticing on your site. However, it might not completely be useful as it won't help you index any of the old pages. Follow the below-given suggestions to get indexed by Google actively.

Eliminate the crawl blocks in the robots.txt file

There is an active roadblock on your way to Indexing in the form of a robots.txt file. These kinds of files tell the Google bot that your webpages cannot be crawled. You must remove them to fix this issue. You can check whether this crawl block exists in your webpages by putting the URL in the URL inspection tool in Google Search Console. To know additional information click on the coverage block and check if it has crawling allowed. Notice the ‘Crawl allowed? No: blocked by robots.txt error”. If you find that, recheck your file and disallow the rules to dissolve the issue. Also, remove all the canonical tags and rogue non-index tags.

Include powerful internal links

You must not neglect to link internally to the page you want to get indexed. You can simply avoid it by giving enough internal links on your website. Google is interested in crawling more important pages than the less important ones. So, make sure the links you provide are relevant and powerful. In simpler words, the pages Google thinks are authoritative are indexed first. The ranking is also considerably higher to powerful web pages.

Provide backlinks of high quality

Google knows that a webpage is important through backlinks. Then it prioritizes indexing those sites. However, not every page that is indexed has backlinks. But these high-quality links will make the site feel more important, and Google crawls and recrawls such pages. This results in getting your page indexed faster.

Make sure your content is unique and Google sees your site as valuable.

If Google thinks there is no value to your site, it is very unlikely that our site will be indexed. When you improve the quality of your content, it helps both with your ranking and Indexing. Eliminate all the pages with low performance and quality. This helps the Google bot to find the high-quality pages on your website quicker.
